Lau-ngam to build 2 MW dam

(KPL) The people of Lau-ngam district of Saravane province will have a 24 hour electricity system in the next few years.
A ceremony to sign the MoU on feasibility study for constructing the 2 MW dam at Ban Kiengtanglia of Lau-ngam district was held on 9 January between the representatives of the departments of planning and investment, energy and mining and company for construction and agricultural promotion.
According to the MoU, the feasibility study will take almost 18 months by using the own fund of the company and the company must spend about US$ 5,000 for the deposit.
The feasibility study project will be implemented based on the article no.12, 30 and 31 of the law on electricity.

Laos, Vietnam cooperate in hydropower development

 (KPL) Laos and Vietnam will cooperate in developing the Nam Leng hydropower project in Laos'  northern province of Phongsaly.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the study and development of the project in an 18-month period was signed between the two sides in Vientiane on Jan. 10.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, a representative of Vietnam's VC Invest Company, which joins the implementation of the project, said this is a good chance for Vietnamese businesses to expand their investment activities in Laos , contributing to the country's energy development.
He affirmed that the company will try its best to ensure the progress of the project, helping foster the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
