14 households in Angsang access to electricity

(KPL) Fourteen households in Angsang village, Viengsay district, Houaphanh province, have been connected to power grid of a small scaled hydropower plant built in the village.

The construction of the Nam Gnord Small-Scaled Hydropower Project in Ban Angsang started in November last year and was over in a month later. The construction is technically supervised by the Energy and Mining Service of Houaphanh province. The construction costs 48 million kip and has been carried out by local people.

The German Embassy in Laos has financed US dollars 5,000 for the construction. An international organisation has also given US dollars 5,000 and the local people have contributed 4.1 million kip to the construction.

Angsang village has been selected for the implementation of the pilot project on developing a small-scaled hydropower plant in the province as the village is poor and located in remote area.
